[captionpix imgsrc=”http://lucindaporterrn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/two.jpg” captiontext=”Image courtesy of Photokanok/FreeDigitalPhotos.net”] For those who are reading this blog for the first time, on February 25th I entered into a 12-week clinical trial using triple test drugs sofosbuvir (formerly GS-7997), ledipasvir (formerly GS-5885), and ribavirin. Gilead is the sponsor of this study. This is my third treatment. I have genotype 1a (don’t know my IL28B type) and stage 2 liver disease. I was a responder-relapser to 48 weeks of peginterferon and ribavirin.
Although I am now entering my 3rd week of treatment, my lab results are lagging. At my week 2 visit, I got my week 1 results. My viral count before beginning the study drug was over 8 million. After one week, it dropped to 52 (as in the number of cards in a deck). My liver enzymes are normal for the only time in 25 years other than during my second treatment.
I am tremendously grateful.
